BBQ Sloppy Joe Sliders

Finger-licking saucy is how we like our sloppy joe sliders! They’re made with lean ground turkey simmered in a flavorful mix of garlic, onion, chili and, in the spirit of Texas, barbecue sauce. Scoop them over whole-grain buns, and watch them disappear.

    BBQ Sloppy Joe Sliders

  • JENNIE-O® Ground Turkey

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • 0.5 cup chopped onion

  • 1 garlic clove minced

  • 1 red pepper diced

  • 0.75 teaspoon sea salt divided

  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin

  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup tomato sauce

  • 0.25 cup barbecue sauce

  • 6 slider buns

Directions

  • In large skillet, heat olive oil on medium-high. Add onions, red pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cook 4 minutes or until soft. Transfer to small bowl and set aside.

  • Add ground turkey to skillet. Break up meat and add remaining 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, cumin,

  • chili powder, smoked paprika and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 8 to 10 minutes or until well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Stir in tomato sauce and barbecue sauce.

  • Add pepper and onions, and stir to combine. Reduce heat and simmer 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve on slider buns with additional barbecue sauce, if desired.
