Sunflower Seed Butter Banana Chocolate Oatmeal

Stay calm on hectic mornings with Cooking Light’s nutty, chocolatey banana oatmeal. Oats and bananas are both high in soluble fiber, which slows digestion and keeps you fuller for longer. As if this breakfast couldn’t get any better, rich dark chocolate shavings add a decadent finish!

Ingredients for servings

    Sunflower Seed Butter Banana Chocolate Oatmeal

  • 0.75 cup water

  • 0.5 cup old-fashioned oats certified gluten-free if necessary

  • Dash of salt

  • 0.5 large ripe banana

  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seed butter

  • 2 teaspoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon shaved dark chocolate


  • Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in oats and dash of salt. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Slice banana. Mash 1/3 of the slices in a small bowl. Stir sunflower seed butter, brown sugar and mashed banana into warm oatmeal. Top with remaining banana slices and shaved chocolate.
